The chapter “Computer Fundamentals” is one of the key chapters of the NIELIT CCC exam syllabus. As soon as you begin preparing for the exam, the first and most important topic to prepare is the basic structure of the computer where we discuss the CPU, memory devices such as RAM, ROM, Cache, input/output devices, and the generations of computers. There are about 15 to 20 questions from this chapter in the CCC exam. If you have the basics of this chapter well in your hands, then you can easily understand the other chapters of the CCC exam such as the Windows operating system and the MS Office because there, the use of these concepts practically comes into action.
CCC exam clear karne ke liye sirf theory ratne se kaam nahi chalega, aapko concepts par achhi grip hona zaroori hai. Is chapter mein aisi bahut si chhoti-chhoti details hoti hain jo exam mein candidates ko confuse karti hain—jaise ki 1 KB mein exactly kitne bytes hote hain (1024, not 1000) ya kaunsa device input aur output dono ka kaam karta hai (Touchscreen). NIELIT aksar inhi minor details par base MCQs banata hai. Kyunki CCC exam mein koi negative marking nahi hoti, isliye in fundamental questions ko achhe se practice karna aapko aasan marks dilane mein madad karega. Neeche diye gaye 20 important questions aapki exactly exam-oriented practice aur revision mein madad karenge.
Important Q&A: Computer Fundamentals
1. (MCQ) Which of the following is considered the “brain” of the computer? A) ALU
B) CPU
C) RAM
D) Hard Disk
Answer: B) CPU
Explanation: Computer ka saara processing aur calculation CPU (Central Processing Unit) karta hai, isliye isko computer ka brain bolte hain.
2. (Short Answer) What is the full form of ALU? Answer: Arithmetic Logic Unit
Explanation: ALU CPU ka ek important part hota hai jo mathematical calculations (Arithmetic) aur logical decisions (Logic) karta hai.
3. (MCQ – Tricky) 1 Kilobyte (KB) is exactly equal to how many bytes? A) 1000 Bytes
B) 1024 Bytes
C) 1048 Bytes
D) 100 Bytes
Answer: B) 1024 Bytes
Explanation: Digital memory mein 1 KB = 1024 Bytes hota hai (2^10), na ki 1000. Exam mein bacche aksar 1000 mark karke galat kar dete hain!
4. (Short Answer) Which device is used to convert hard copy (physical paper) into digital format? Answer: Scanner (or OCR)
Explanation: Scanner ka kaam physical paper ya photo ko scan karke computer ke liye digital file (soft copy) mein convert karna hota hai.
5. (MCQ) Which generation of computers used Transistors? A) First Generation
B) Second Generation
C) Third Generation
D) Fourth Generation
Answer: B) Second Generation
Explanation: 1st Gen mein Vacuum Tubes the, 2nd Gen (1956-1963) mein Transistors ka use hua, aur 3rd mein IC (Integrated Circuits).
6. (MCQ) Which of the following is a System Software? A) MS Word
B) Tally
C) Windows 10
D) Chrome Browser
Answer: C) Windows 10
Explanation: Operating System (jaise Windows, Linux) system software hai jo computer ko chalne ke liye platform deta hai; baaki sab application software hain.
7. (MCQ – Tricky) Which of the following is BOTH an Input and Output device? A) Printer
B) Monitor
C) Touchscreen
D) Keyboard
Answer: C) Touchscreen
Explanation: Touchscreen se aap input de sakte hain (touch/swipe karke) aur usi screen par output bhi dekh sakte hain, isliye ye dono hai.
8. (Short Answer) Why is RAM called “Volatile” memory? Answer: Because it loses all data when the power is turned off.
Explanation: RAM temporary hota hai. Light (power) jane par RAM ka saara data delete ho jata hai, isliye ise volatile memory kehte hain.
9. (MCQ) Which memory is the fastest and closest to the CPU? A) Hard Disk
B) RAM
C) Cache Memory
D) ROM
Answer: C) Cache Memory
Explanation: Cache memory sabse fast aur expensive hoti hai, jo CPU ke bilkul paas rehti hai taaki data turant mil sake.
10. (Short Answer) What is Firmware? Answer: Software permanently stored on a hardware device.
Explanation: Hardware device (jaise motherboard ya router) ke andar permanently likha hua software ko firmware kehte hain, jaise BIOS.
11. (MCQ) Which language was used in the First Generation of computers? A) Assembly Language
B) High-Level Language
C) Machine Language
D) Java
Answer: C) Machine Language
Explanation: 1st Gen computers sirf binary code (0 aur 1) samajh sakte the, isliye unki language Machine Language thi.
12. (MCQ) What does VDU stand for? A) Visual Display Unit
B) Video Data Unit
C) Visual Data Utility
D) Very Direct Unit
Answer: A) Visual Display Unit
Explanation: Monitor ko technically Visual Display Unit (VDU) kaha jata hai jo output ko screen par dikhata hai.
13. (Short Answer) Which part of the CPU controls the flow of data and instructions? Answer: Control Unit (CU)
Explanation: Control Unit input se data ko laata hai, memory mein store karwata hai, aur ALU ko process karne ka instruction deta hai.
14. (MCQ) The Fourth Generation of computers is characterized by the use of which technology? A) Transistors
B) Vacuum Tubes
C) Microprocessors
D) Artificial Intelligence
Answer: C) Microprocessors
Explanation: 4th Generation (1971-1989) mein thousands of ICs ko ek single chip mein integrate karke Microprocessor banaya gaya.
15. (Short Answer) What is the full form of USB in computer hardware? Answer: Universal Serial Bus
Explanation: USB ek standard port hai jisse hum mouse, keyboard, pen drive ko computer se easily connect kar sakte hain.
16. (MCQ) What is the primary function of a Compiler? A) To translate high-level language to machine language
B) To connect to the internet
C) To clean computer hardware
D) To type text
Answer: A) To translate high-level language to machine language
Explanation: Compiler humare likhe hua program (jaise C++ ya Python) ko computer ki machine language (binary) mein translate karta hai.
17. (MCQ) Which of the following is an example of an Input device? A) Speaker
B) Projector
C) Joystick
D) Plotter
Answer: C) Joystick
Explanation: Joystick se hum computer ko command (input) dete hain, mostly games khelne ke liye. Baaki teen output devices hain.
18. (Short Answer) What is the main difference between RAM and ROM? Answer: RAM is temporary (volatile) and read-write, while ROM is permanent (non-volatile) and read-only.
Explanation: RAM ka data light jane par delete ho jata hai, jabki ROM mein computer ka bootup data (BIOS) permanently save rehta hai.
19. (MCQ) The speed of a computer’s CPU is generally measured in which unit? A) Bytes
B) Hertz (GHz)
C) Pixels
D) Volts
Answer: B) Hertz (GHz)
Explanation: CPU ki processing speed Gigahertz (GHz) ya Megahertz (MHz) mein measure hoti hai, jo batata hai CPU ek second mein kitne cycles complete karta hai.
20. (MCQ) Which device is specifically used to read bars and stripes on product packaging in a supermarket? A) OMR
B) OCR
C) Barcode Reader
D) MICR
Answer: C) Barcode Reader
Explanation: Barcode Reader supermart ke products par bani black-white stripes (bars) ko scan karke computer mein price input karta hai.
